Spanish Grand Prix - Formula One 2010
The most notable motor racing events were the Catalan Cup of 1908 and 1909, on roads around Sitges, near Barcelona. Both of these events were won by Jules Goux, establishing a strong racing tradition in Catalonia, which has continued to this day.
This enthusiasm for racing led to the plan to build permanent tracks in Sitges - Sitges-Terramar, then at Circuito Lasarte the San Sebastián Grand Prix and the Penya Rhin Grand Prix at the Pedralbes Circuit in Cataluña. After this Jarama (near Madrid), Jerez, and Montjuďc (in Barcelona) circuits were used. From 1991 the event finally moved to the new track of the Circuit of Cataluña, which in 1992 was advertised as the Grand Prix of the Olympic Games.
In 2009 Brawn GP –former Honda- driver Jenson Button won the race, let us see who will pop the champagne in 2010!
